Birthday Kitchen

The ground floor of an under-construction section of Amrita University became the temporary kitchen for Amma's 54th Birthday. Huge fire pits were dug into the ground of a floor that will someday become a classroom or lecture hall. Hundreds of volunteers chopped vegetables, made Indian snacks, cooked rice and curry, and made chai for the tens of thousands of visitors - all of whom would be fed for free.
