Self Help Groups celebrating Onam in Amritapuri

More than a dozen groups of women gathered to participate in a day full of activities in celebration of Onam. Each team consisted of women who were part of a Self Help Group (SHG) from the surrounding Allappad Panchyat where the Ashram is located. Wearing matching saris with different colored (choli) blouses to identify each group, the women created elaborate pookallams (flower designs) on the floor of the main hall while Amma gave darshan. The women also participated in a number of contests and games.
